First of all, it’s important to note that phone chargers are not listed as prohibited items by airlines. There is no explicit ban on carrying phone chargers onboard. Moreover, other electronic devices, as long as they are legitimate, can be brought on a plane. Devices containing lithium batteries are permitted as long as they comply with lithium battery regulations. Since phone chargers are not included in the list of prohibited items, they are generally allowed on flights.

Points to Note During Security Check

When going through airport security, electronic devices like phone chargers may need to be taken out of your luggage and placed separately in a screening tray for inspection. This is to ensure the safety and compliance of the charger or other electronic items. If the charger is deemed safe and meets the required standards, it will be allowed through security and onboard.
However, if you are carrying uncertified chargers or other non-compliant electronic products, they might not pass security checks.

Many aircraft nowadays are equipped with charging ports—some with USB slots, others with standard power outlets. As long as your charger is safe, compliant, and has passed security checks, you can use it to charge your phone during the flight.

Note

Although you can use a phone charger onboard, and many planes provide charging ports or USB interfaces, avoid charging your phone during takeoff and landing. Wait until the plane has stabilized at cruising altitude before plugging in your device.

An Additional Note

While this article focuses mainly on phone chargers, some of you might also carry power banks that meet the regulations. It’s important to remember that power banks cannot be used to charge phones or other electronic devices during the flight. Additionally, if your power bank has an on/off switch, make sure it is turned off.
